PM Pierre: Youth Economy & MSME Facility for sustainable employment

Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre is looking forward to implement policy measures to give rise to the upcoming entrepreneurs through the Youth Economy and MSME Facility.

It is to be noted that such initiatives will display the people’s capacity to receive sustainable employment and wealth in the forthcoming years.

“We will continue to implement policy measures to give birth to a new generation of entrepreneurs through our Youth Economy and MSME Facility. These programmes have demonstrated the innovative capacity of our people to generate sustainable employment and wealth in the future”, stated PM Pierre.

Notably, the leader of Saint Lucia said this in his address on New Year’s Eve 2024.

Moreover, for the development of the country, the government of Saint Lucia has secured XCD20.5 million for the youth economy agency.

Not only this, it is to be added in the remarks of PM Drew that more than 400 projects are also part of the business and job creation in the country.

Additionally, a significant amount of XCD 10 million has been added to the MSME Loan Grant Facility.

Noting this, such initiatives will provide business and job creation opportunities for the people of the Federation.

Moreover, the Facebook handle named ‘Office of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia’ expressed their delight at the overwhelming response to the Youth Economy Agency (YEA) and the MSME Loan Grant Facility as they agreed to finance the entrepreneurial ventures.

Further to this, the YEA received more than 1600 grants and over 500 loan applications for the project. It is to be noted that more than 510 applications were submitted, and the MSME Loan-Grant Facility is supposed to be over-subscribed within months of issuing its first call.
