Sofia, Bulgaria: On October 24, the Sofia Municipality is launching a completely new boulevard – Blvd. “Filip Kutev” from “Simeonovsko Shoes” to St. “Silver” informed Mayor Yordanka Fandakova through his social media account.
It is 1.2 km long, with six lanes of traffic, characterized by a bus lane, a bike lane, wide sidewalks and 200 new trees.
The brand new boulevard “Filip Kutev” is 2.3 km long and is part of the third city ring, which will be connected with the “The Simeon Highway.”
With it, the Sofia Municipality anticipates unloading traffic not only in the southern neighbourhoods but also in the city centre to provide convenient, fast connections outside the city centre.
Mayor Fandakova emphasized that the construction of strategic transport infrastructure for Sofia was one of her work priorities and has achieved remarkable results with the construction of six two-level intersections and 13 transport breaks.
She mentioned that the new south canvas of “Filip Kutev” between St. will also be completed next year.
By the end of the year, a new bus route No. 288 will be launched, connecting the district Geo Milev with Blvd “Cherni Vrah”, and the leading buses of “Krastova Vada” and “Vitosha NPP Simeonovo”, in addition to the metro, will also have a connection with the new line announced mayor Fandakova.
She also delivered a brief about greenifying Sofia. The Municipality began planting the third New Forest of Sofia. It will be on 40 acres in Abdovitsa, Iskar district.
In 2017, the Sofia Municipality started planting a green belt from a new forest around Sofia. The first was near Sukhodol in an area of 200 dca, with a beautiful young acacia forest.
Another 50,000 seeds were planted in Negovan, Novi Iskar district, and now they continue planting over 14,000 maple seedlings.
