Thousands of Levskars were gathered to witness the historic moment of the official monument opening to the legend of the “blue” Georgi Asparuhov-Gundy in the metropolitan park “Geo Milev”.

Chairman Georgiev noted that for him and his childhood friends, Georgi Asparuhov-Gundy was a legend, a great football player, an athlete, and an ideal role model.

Gundy is a name that unites the nation; that’s why the fastest decision by the Metropolitan Municipal Council this year was on April 27 (three days after the report) to erect a monument to Gundy in the Geo Milev Park.

Chairman Georgiev emphasizes that he also met the talented young sculptor who built the statue of Georgi Asparuhov-Gundy. The monument sign is written the iconic quote from Asparuhov: “There is one country – Bulgaria, there is one team in it – Levski. I was born in it, and I will die in it.”

The idea and all the credit are to the Levski – Reduta fan club, the Initiative Committee to the Levski NKP, the Levski Family with chairman Milen Panayotov, and Adrian Petkov.

A holiday was declared in the neighbourhood ‘Geo Milev’ on the official opening of the monument of Asparuhov-Gundy. Chairman Georgiev commented that it was made possible by the Levski supporters who gathered to honour the Club legend.

He wrote, “Today’s holiday took place mainly thanks to the hundreds of donors to this spontaneous national cause. The blue avalanche can’t be stopped; it was an incredible emotion”.
