Burgas, Bulgaria: Dimitar Nikolov, mayor of Burgas, extends his condolences to the family of a 23-year-old girl who died in an accident on September 27, 2023.
On Trakia highway, a Mercedes truck collided with a parked truck, resulting in a death of a young girl; two other girls were injured. Mayor Nikolov mentioned that the driver’s test showed the presence of methamphetamine.
The accident occurred at 10:55 AM on Trakia highway towards the capital Sofia. The collision happened between a Sofia-registered Mercedes truck and a Burgas-registered Ford Car.
The girl from Burgas died on the spot in the impact. The other two women were taken to the hospital in Stara Zagora, whose condition is critical, and one had minor injuries. The car stopped in the emergency lane due to a technical malfunction.
The truck driver was tested for alcohol and drug use, and the drug test showed a positive result. The driver gave blood for medical examination. He was initially detained for 24 hours. Both vehicles have been seized.
As per the “Road Police” sector, the truck driver has a terrible road history with 21 tickets for various violations. Six of them were speed limits. Yesterday, his reckless driving killed an innocent woman and left two seriously injured.
Mayor Dimitar Nikolov expressed his condolences to her father. Sharing the sad news on his social media account with grief, Mayor Dimitrov wrote, “A 23-year-old beautiful, just beginning her life Burgas girl was killed on the road because of drugs and recklessness. She left without fault, with no chance of survival”.
“Innocent and unsuspecting children. The driver’s test showed the presence of methamphetamine. I am terrified imagining the pain of my loved ones. Anger but also powerlessness. Another case of innocent victims”.
He stated that it’s still unclear whether it happened because of a lack of fear of justice, a lack of fear of regulatory authorities or rather the lack of personal responsibility that your actions can cause fatal consequences.
