Haskovo, Bulgaria: Haskovo’s first indoor swimming complex was officially opened yesterday. It was built entirely with the funds of Haskovo Municipality. The modern swimming complex is built on a deserted terrain on a street. “A panorama”.

The complex has two swimming pools – for children and a large one with five swimming corridors measuring 12.5 by 25 meters with a depth of 1.8 to 2.00m.

The Mayor of Haskovo Municipality, Stanislav Dechev, and the President of the Contractor Company, Mihail Alexandrov, cut the ribbon of the first Haskovo Municipal Swimming Complex.

During the ceremony, he said, “I am excited because today we are making a dream come true for Haskovo in the most difficult times of the arch crisis. Pavla Toncheva, we started work on this site. And we did it all together! So today, I want to thank those who didn’t believe in us and those who believed and supported us”.

“To Dr Mario Yanakiev, who has been behind this cause from the beginning to the municipal councillors who supported the initiative, to the contractors of the site, to the institutions that have partnered with us – thank you to everyone who believed in our dream! Congratulations to Haskovo! Mayor Stanislav Dechev said”.

He also thanked the Water Polo Federation and announced that Haskovo is already on the map of water sports in Bulgaria and will have a water polo team.

Guests at the opening ceremony were Deputy Regional Governor Mitko Petrov, representatives of institutions, municipal councilors, Svoboda Mikhailova – member of the US BFVT, representatives of Haskovo sports clubs, citizens.

The first swims in the newly opened pool were made by the guest water polo team Arda Kardzhali. Young swimmers demonstrated relay swims and exchanging water passes. Father Zlatko lit the first indoor swimming complex in Haskovo.
