An Interdepartmental Commission will also be formed temporarily at the government meeting today in order to investigate the factors responsible for the severe consequences of the natural disaster.

Petar Dimitrov, the Deputy Minister of Environment, will lead the Commission. He said, “After our people lost their lives, it is time to investigate in detail the factors responsible for what happened in Tsarevo. We are willing to take some actions that make us capable of preparing for such natural disasters in upcoming future”.

The floods struck Tsarevo on September 5, 2023. Now, the sea has calmed down, and water level has been reduced to normal, allowing rescuers to search for the disappeared individuals.

Another body of a male had been found, and body of Judge Maria Moskova was also found. A few moments later, her daughter, who went missing during the floods, was also found dead.

The flood water completely damaged Arapya campsite, devastated the “Nestinarka” campsite and destroyed a nearby bridge. The electrical grid and transportation were also inadequately affected by floods. Two dams also suffered severe damage and need urgent repairs.

The volunteers from different Bulgarian provinces came to Tsarevo to help the people. They helped people pull cars and caravans from the sea. Throughout the day, volunteers helped people affected by disaster.

Georgi Lapchev, the mayor of Tsarevo and the committee will examine the other damages and try to recover them as soon as possible.

He mentioned that the situation in the municipality is getting normal, and soon, with the help of rescue teams, volunteers, and military personnel involved in rescue operations.
