On his official Facebook account, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire shared these notes and appreciated Ave Maria School for these beautiful suggestions.

He mentioned that these notes can help parents to fully understand their children and what type of attitude parents should maintain to do good parenting, preparing their child to start a new chapter in their life.

Following are the notes Deputy PM Ernest Hilaire shared; he wrote, “I have to agree that this is a just a beautiful piece to share”.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

  • School will be starting soon, and I want to ask you a favour. Sit down with your child for five minutes and explain to them that being very tall, short, chubby, skinny, black, brown or white is not a joke.
  • Explain to them that there is nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes every day. Explain to him or her that a used backpack carries the same dreams as a new one.
  • Please teach them not to exclude anyone for “being different” or not having the same possibilities. Remind them to help and look out for others. Explain to them that teasing hurts and that they go to school to LEARN.
  • Teach them how to be kind, loving, and independent. Let them know they are strong, brave, kind, caring, helpful, and capable. Remind them that their gifts will impact the world.

Minister Hilaire highlighted that the Government of Saint Lucia is elated to welcome the precious gems of the country back to schools and looking forward to making their new academic year successful.

The primary objective for the Saint Lucian Government is to provide more education and become a civilized and prosperous citizen of the country.
