Castries, Saint Lucia: Ernest Hilaire, Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, encouraged the young students on their return to classrooms and educational institutions yesterday.
He noted that the students are up for their new challenge to commence the 2023-2024 academic year, and the Government of Saint Lucia will make every possible effort for their success and become successful in the future.
The Deputy PM mentioned that it was an honour for him to be a member and cabinet minister of the administration led by PM Philip J. Pierre.
He emphasizes that With the increased support of the Prime Minister for back-to-school assistance, more than 500 children across Castries South have received help to resume their studies and received modern equipment such as laptops.
Deputy PM Hilare explained that the administration led by PM Philip J. Pierre continued the one laptop per child program, granting every child in Saint Lucia a device, mainly when learning is technologically advanced.
Additionally, they increased allowance for the teachers from $ 800$ to $1400 and bursaries for the students. Explaining the work done by the Government for the welfare and education of children, Deputy PM wrote, “If I had to list all the policies and programs we have instituted for our students in Saint Lucia, this caption would never have finished”.
At the beginning of new educational season, Deputy PM Ernest Hilare wished good luck and health to every student and teacher.
Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre also sent best wishes to Saint Lucia’s children at the beginning of the new academic year. He encourages them to be diligent in their studies and enjoy their school time. Set goals and seize opportunities that will allow them to gain positive experiences and contribute to the community.
He ensured the children that the teachers, parents and Government are supporting them and will continue to provide every essential support to unlock their full potential.
