Sofia, Bulgaria: Yordanka Fandakova, mayor of Sofia, announced that on August 9, 2023, the landscaping of the 6th interblock space in the Iskar district is being completed, in which Sofia Municipality allocated parking spaces and built new sidewalks.
Mayor Fandakova emphasizes that Municipality has renovated over 100 interblock spaces in the last three years. They started this program in 2021 to reduce air pollution with dust emitted from cars parked in the green areas around the blocks. So we were able to reveal over 2,100 parking spaces with particular flooring for the residential blocks.
Currently, 21 interblock spaces are being completed in the neighbourhoods of 17 districts, where 500 more parking spaces will be allocated. Mayor Fandakova remarked that work is about to start on another 64 pre-block spaces, to be completed by the end of the year.
Together with this program of enrichment of t. sun. mud dots, since 2011, the Sofia Municipality is also working on the Green Sofia program to renovate pre-block kindergartens. Over 1500 have been blessed so far. The Iskar District, the Mayor of the District, and the Municipal Councilor Lorita Radeva are among the distinguished winners in several projects implemented.
Mayor Fandakova also informed that another Construction of a new kindergarten in the Lyulin district is being completed. This is one of the buildings that was given to the Welfare Agency decades ago, they have returned it, and now reconstruction is in progress and will be opened in 10 new groups.
Mayor Fandakova highlighted that in the largest region of the metropolitan district, “Lyulin”, the lack of spaces in kindergartens and nurseries will be overcome by the end of the year. This is the result of our active work with the mayor of the Lyulin district on implementing the construction program.
She added that there is currently no shortage of places for children aged 3 to 6 in kindergartens in 15 out of the 24 regions due to the active work of district mayors preparing construction procedures.
A total of 21 new kindergarten buildings are currently being built in Sofia. Five are completed and awaiting commissioning, with ten more to be completed by the end of 2023.
