North Central Forestry Company to implement new afforestation of over 5 thousand per project acre

Gabrovo, Bulgaria: Over 5 Thousand acres of new afforestation will make Northcentral Forestry Enterprise by the end of the year. The activities are carried out by the project “Application of forestry practices and Afforestation to Improve the environmental condition of forest habitats and support ecosystem services in the Territory of the North Central Forestry Enterprise”.

The budget is 9 983 453.72 BGN, with the funds provided under the Operational Program: Environment 2014-2020. This became clear at a seminar to present the project activities and the results achieved so far held today in Gabrovo. The event was honoured by the Regional Governor, Kristina Sidorova, and the expert in Regional Administration – Gabrovo Engineer Hristo Bashev.

The details of the project were presented by the North Central Forest Enterprise director Ivan Nedkov, and specialists engaged in its implementation.

The duration of the project is 11 months – from January 31, 2023. until December 31, 2023. The main goal of the project is to improve the environmental condition of forest habitats by supporting natural regeneration.

More are planned within it: filling activities (816 acres) and fencing crops (42 403 m); regeneration and afforestation of 5,353 acres of forest, with 1842 acres forested so far; soil preparation and clearing of afforestation areas on an area of 3,130 acres, of which 585 acres have already been prepared; production of planting material in size of over 500,000 seedlings of cer, poplar and black pine.
