Sofia, Bulgaria: The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Ivanka Shalapatova, confirmed to the President of CT “Support” Dimitar Manolov the commitment to complete a comprehensive analysis of the pension system in Bulgaria to identify the disproportions in it and find solutions to restore social justice.

Improving the adequacy of the social security system, part of which the pension system is, was among the main topics of conversations between the leadership of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MTSP) and the union organization.

“Our team’s ambitions are to have an intensive dialogue with social partners on all topics related to labour and social policy by the end of the year. The aim is to prepare long-term strategic solutions in these areas,” Minister Shalapatova said at the meeting. Deputy Ministers Ginka Mashova, Nikolay Naydenov, Maya Vasileva and Desislava Stoyanova also participated.

The conversation was part of a series of meetings with all national representative organizations of workers, employees, and employers, which will be completed by the end of next week. After this, the spheres of joint action will be drawn.

Minister Shalapatova stressed that she relies on analysis and expertise by social partners in improving the quality of life for elderly people. On his part, the President of “KT Support”, Dimitar Manolov, pointed out that fewer Bulgarians can meet the country’s retirement conditions and outlined significant social security problems.

She also discussed that the quality of human capital, #qualification and skills of the workforce and their continuous upgrade have become a critical factor in achieving sustainable economic recovery and development. “Our commitment is to ensure workers and employers the benefits of lifelong learning,” she noted.
