According to predictions, both countries will work on climate change in upcoming nations as Dominica and Qatar are more vulnerable to the effects of Climate change, and it remains a significant problem for both countries.

The lack of arable land, water, freshwater sources, forests and green regions makes Qatar more affected by climate change, raising heat waves in the country. If the problem continues to exist, the sea level will rise, coastlines will be affected, and freshwater levels will fall.

Dominica will play a significant role for Qatar in their battle against Climate change. ‘The Nature Island of the Caribbean’ is working on building a geothermal plant to tackle the effects of climate change and eliminate their dependency on fossil fuels.

Dominica’s experience and innovative ideas can significantly benefit Qatar in its battle against Climate change. With the help of each other, both countries can improve each other’s approach in solving the issue of Climate change.

In 2022, Qatar reclaimed its position as the largest exporter of liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) globally. It’s a clean fuel that produces 40% less carbon dioxide than coal and 30% less than oil, making it the cleanest fossil fuel.

Qatar has excellent bilateral relations with the USA and now focusing on increasing its presence in Caribbean nations. PM Skerrit’s meeting with Qatari ambassador has the potential to be beneficial for Dominica and other Caribbean islands since Qatar may initiate discussions about exporting LNG to the island to meet its energy needs.
