He emphasizes that all initiatives to promote specialized tourism in the two countries are an excellent opportunity to impose the development of a typical Balkan product.

Minister Dimitrov remarked that cooperation between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia can develop in several directions – from the development of common wine routes to joint initiatives in the field of advertising in a digital environment, by popularizing destinations by journalists and bloggers, as well as deepening cooperation between the two sides and the exchange of good practices.

Over 200 are promising places in Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia where tourists can enjoy the taste of quality wine. These are places where Bulgarian and Macedonian tourists will be able to touch the riches and peculiarities of the two countries, thus setting the foundation for an even more dynamic future development of sustainable and environmentally-friendly tourism.

Northern Macedonia is the country that sends the most significant number of tourists to Bulgaria compared to its population. In 2019 half a million Macedonians came to our country, 25% of the country’s population. Three hundred two thousand tourists visited Bulgaria in 2022, an increase of 72% compared to 2021. These figures make Northern Macedonia one of the top 10 markets for Bulgaria.
