Gabrovo, Bulgaria: Two hundred seventy supporters were awarded posthumously by the Municipality of Gabrovo with the title of “Honor Citizen of Gabrovo”. At the Museum “House of Humor and Satire”, Victoria Petrova and Ivan Minchev received the “Gabrovo Honorary Medal”.

The distinctions were presented today at a solemn ceremony in the Renaissance Hall. District Governor Kristina Sidorova and Deputy District Governor Andrei Nikolov respected the event. They congratulated the winners of the “Sign of Honor of Gabrovo” and the Mayor of Gabrovo on the city’s holiday.

Historian Daniela Tsoneva briefly presented those who organized the uprising in the second half of 19—a century from Gabrovo. Tsoneva is studying the names of rebels in Gabrovo after Ruza Partinkova-Lubenova submitted a proposal for posthumous credentialing with the title of “Honorary Citizen of Gabrovo” to Hristo Partinkov.

She is a descendant of the sub-voir of the village of Dolni Bakoytsi in the Gabrovo rebel troop. One institution and two persons contributed to the consolidation of the city as a capital of humour and a centre of culture.

The Technical University-Gabrovo nominated the House of Humor and Satire for the museum’s role in raising Gabrovo’s national and global authority on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the institution. The Gabrovo Children’s Center offered Victoria Petrova.

For more than half a century, she has been working with children in the city for their development in arts and culture. He is part of the creators of the Gabrovo Laughter Festival, which has been held for over two decades, with over six thousand children participating.

Mim Theater – Gabrovo and Aprilov-Palauzov Regional Library – Gabrovo nominate Ivan Minchev – one of the symbolic faces of the Gabrovo Carnival, which this year marks its centennial anniversary.

Minchev is among the screenwriters of the carnival and puts his heart and soul into realizing the event. Minchev and his family are among the largest donors to the Aprilov – Palauzov Regional Library, donating over 130 volumes of contemporary Bulgarian and foreign literature last year alone.

The guests enjoyed the Gabrovo Chamber Orchestra performances and a surprise performance by Teodosiy Spasov, dedicated to Ivan Minchev.
