Bulgaria: Orient express arrive in Ruse after three years delay due to covid

The legendary “Orient Express” arrived at the station in Ruse-Bulgaria. The trip was organized every year from Paris to Istanbul route. The trip didn’t take place for the last three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Train stopped at Ruse station last time was August 27, 2019. Ninety-one passengers from 12 different countries travelled on this luxurious Train.

The orient express train service was created in 1883 by Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL), a Belgium company that served until 2009.

The Train carries 15 luxurious locomotives that will travel on the route of Paris-Istanbul. It is expected to arrive at the railway station in Varna. It will stay there for three hours, then leave for Istanbul.

Citizens of Ruse, especially children with their parents, came to see and take a photograph with this luxury train—Elena Todorova, who arrived at Ruse station with their grandson- Alex. She said, “I came here to see this train for the first time. I want to show it to my grandson, who lives in Italy”. Alex said, ” I saw this train in the movie, but I don’t remember which one. The train is an absolute beauty”.

Eighty-three tourists from different countries boarded this Train. Most of them were American and English. The Train comprises 47 experienced staff members who will take care of boarded passengers. The food is varied; the menu will have a unique local dish of each country the Train passes through.

The attendant, Stefano Gambilone, shared his experience on the Train. According to him, it was like going back in time. He added, ” It is so remarkable on the train. It feels like I’m living in 1920. People who travel with us always celebrate something, making us happy”.

On September 3, the orient express will pass through Ruse railway station again and stay there for 101 minutes.
