A peaceful commemoration was held at Burgas Airport on July 18 to mark the 10th Anniversary of a terrorist attack in which 5 Israelis and a Bulgarian had lost their lives. The attack harmed nearly forty victims.
Terrorism has no justification. To ace the battle against terrorism, we are united by our amicable relations; we continue to nurture fruitful cooperation with the Israeli side for the sake of the prosperity of our two people,” the Bulgarian government said.
Well, a bus got targeted by the terrorists carrying six people, Maor Harush, Itzik Kolangi, Amir Menashe, Elior Preiss, Kochava Shriki and Bulgarian Mustafa Kyosov, and the driver of the bus. A group of Israeli travel enthusiasts arrived in the Black Sea resort of Burgas on July 18, 2012. They took the Israeli tour bus outside the airport and braced themselves to head to the hotel. While the bus was covering the distance, a sudden attack shattered the victims’ and their families’ lives. A suicide bomber was sent to devastate the peace, create havoc in the tranquil environment, and increase terror among people.
Accusations were made, and the criminals involved in absentia were sentenced to the severest penalty allowed by the Bulgarian government and their law. They were given life imprisonment with parole. Also, the court ordered the accused to pay 100 million leva to the victims’ families. The Specialised Appellate Court upheld the sentence in April, while Hassan El-Haj Hassan’s ruling is being appealed in the Supreme Court of Cassation.
The Bulgarian government led a secret operation that unmasked the involvement of the terrorist organisation of Hezbollah. Honouring the tenth Anniversary of the bombing, the Embassy of Israel in Bulgaria changed its social media to a decorative 10. The harm was devastating, but it did not spoil Israel and Bulgaria’s relationship to this date.
