Sofia, Bulgaria: The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) today announced that it will now not be negotiating with Kiril Petkov’s – We Continue the Change party after Prime Minister Petkov expels 70 Russian diplomats.

The leader of BSP – Kornelia Ninova, made the announcement today in conversation with the reporters, citing the reason that PM Petkov again took the decisions alone, which includes the security of the country.

She stated, “We are stopping all the negotiations with the ‘We Continue the Change’ to form a new Bulgarian administration. Once again, Kiril Petkov made individual decisions on issues that seriously affect national policy – domestic and foreign. So far, we have shown tolerance as well as understanding in the name of the common aim. We have set out to change the governance model of the country. As this is another such decision, we will get back to the negotiating table if ‘We Continue the Change’ & another prime minister proposes it”.

Moreover, yesterday, Ninova called the decision to expel Russian diplomats as unprecedented. The diplomats were accused of misusing their power and being undercover spies for Russia. Speaking on this, the BSP leader asked the government to show evidence regarding the reason they stated for removing Russian diplomats.

The BSP leader contains an affirmed belief that the dispute over the matter can only be solved in one place, which is the national assembly.

While praising the Bulgarian President, Rumen Radev, Ninova underscored, “If the President is not aware that there is such a report of SANS, something is wrong in the nation. SANS, preparing such reports, must send them to the president, prime minister as well as chairman of the National Assembly. The president can’t not know. According to public information, it is a matter of espionage, and that is why it is most appropriate to convene a meeting of the NSAC”.
