Bulgarian author – Georgi Gospodinov among nominees of Noble Prize in Literature

Sofia, Bulgaria: Writer, Poet, and playwright – Georgi Gospodinov of Bulgaria has been nominated for “The Noble Prize in Literature”. The proposal for his nomination was penned down by chairwoman Zdravka Evtimova.  

Apart from this, Gospodinov is also among the 5 finalists for the Italian Gregor von Rezzori Award. The Bulgarian author has been nominated for his novel – Time Shelter, which was published by Janet 45. The event will take place from May 30 to June 1, 2022.

More about Georgi Gospodinov: 

He is among the most translated Bulgarian authors after 1989. Gospodinov’s four poetry books also have been awarded national literary prizes.  

Not only in Bulgaria but even overseas, writing pieces of Gospodinov is well-appreciated.   

“Natural Novel” by the Bulgarian author has been published in at least twenty-one (21) languages, including – German, French, Spanish, Italian, and others.  

Another piece – Other Stories (2001), is an assemblage of short stories that have also been printed in different languages, including – German, French, English, and Italian. The book was also in the OSCAR 2017 nominations. 

“The Physics of Sorrow (2012)” novel by Gospodinov has been awarded three national awards for best fiction 2012-2013. The novel has been published in Italian, German, Serbian, and in English in the US by Open Letter Books.
