900 US, British and Italian soldiers to join Bulgarian battalion

Sofia, Bulgaria: A total of 900 US, British and Italian soldiers are likely to join the Bulgarian battalion under NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). 

Prime Minister of Bulgaria – Kiril Petkov and the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, in a joint meeting on Saturday, announced that the United States of America will be providing a Stryker company. 

Meanwhile, this week only the Bulgarian Prime Minister revealed that at least 150 British servicemen would join the battle group of the European nation, adding that talks are currently ongoing with the government of Italy for the same. 

Although the battalion will be led by an officer of the Bulgarian defence forces. 

On the other end, speaking on the ongoing situation of Russia-Ukraine, Prime Minister Petkov asserted, “We have to use our market power together. Unity makes us stronger; unity would give us cheaper prices on gas, electricity, fuels. On #energy at the #EUCO doorstep.” 

“Useful meeting with @eduardheger at the beginning of the second day of #EUCO. We discussed coordinated action on fuel prices, strengthening the mandate of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office #EPPO and the European perspective #Западните of the Balkans.”  

Bulgarian Prime Minister Petkov met his counterpart of the Slovak Republic – Eduard Heger and held discussions on several important matters such as – energy prices. 

PM Petkov tweeted, “Good meeting with @eduardheger ahead of the second day of #EUCO. Discussed coordination on energy prices, strengthening #EPPO mandate & #WB European path.” 

Slovak Republic Prime Minister added, “Met with @KirilPetkov in the margins of #EUCO. We share a lot of priorities, including the fight against #corruption. We fully support #EPPO work on its cross-border dimension. Discussed also support to #Ukraine, phase-out of #Russian dependence and #WesternBalkans.”
