Sofia, Bulgaria: Prime Minister of the European country Kiril Petkov met with the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, on Sunday, February 20, 2022. 

Both the dignitaries held fruitful discussions on the common interest matters and other issues related to the European region. Subjects of developments of different activities were also discussed by both parties. 

Bulgarian Prime Minister called the diplomatic talks significant and tweeted, “It was a pleasure to meet the President of the Republic of Northern Macedonia @spendarovski on  @MunSecConf. Dialogue with neighbouring PCMs is intense because we all understand the importance of the European perspective for the region”. 

Meanwhile, North Macedonia President wrote on his social media handle, “On the sidelines of @MunSecConf, I had the opportunity to talk again with the Bulgarian Prime Minister @KirilPetkov about the development of activities established by the two governments. I told him that the breakthrough on the European path is necessary for both sides. #MSC2022“.   

Here, MSC stands for the 58th Munich Security Conference (MSC), which was held from February 18 to 20, 2022. In the meet, high-level government officials from different nations participated. 

During the meet, Bulgarian Prime Minister Petkov met with other world leaders. He met with the German Politician and member of the European Parliament, Viola von Cramon-Taubadel and discussed methods of eradicating corruption and supporting democracy in the Balkans. 

Apart from this, PM Petkov also met journalist as well as activist David Victor Harris during MSC2022. 

The journalist took the platform of Twitter and tweeted, “It was a Great meeting with Bulgarian PM Kiril Petkov at #MSC2022. A timely discussion of Bulgaria-United States links, growing ties with Israel, and complex regional issues. Bulgaria is having a special place in my heart because of its wartime protection of 50,000 Bulgarian Jews from Nazi Germany.”  

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of European Commission was also among the officials who met with the Bulgarian Prime Minister. 

PM Petkov expressed delight over meeting him and tweeted, “Very good discussion with High Representative/Vice-President of @eu_commission @JosepBorrellF on the connection between corruption and foreign policies in the Western Balkans and how third-parties use corruption channels for malign influence.”
