
Sofia, Bulgaria: Yordanka Fandakova, mayor of Sofia, shared a glimpse of Lunar Festival 2023 on her official Facebook account and informed the Sofian residents that After 9 pm tonight and tomorrow, everyone can enjoy the LUNAR Festival of Lights 2023 at over 20 iconic places in Sofia. Artists from all over the world tell stories with light.
She noted that 3D mapping lasts until midnight, and the subway works until 1 am after midnight. So despite the cool weather, an individual can freely enjoy the stories told with light.
Additionally, with the images made by 3D lasers, an individual can also view 160 photos of photographer Ivan Shishiev from Sketches of Sofia in the building of Metropolitan Municipality on St. “Moscow”. Mayor Fandakova mentioned that as part of the “European Night of Museums”, the building will be open from 6 pm to 12 am.
The LUNAR Festival of Lights is being held for the second year with the support of the Metropolitan Municipality and the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, under the patronage of the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Georgi Valentinov Georgiev.
He also shared a glimpse of the Lunar Festival 2023 on his official Facebook account, explaining that every preparation for the event was done under his surveillance. The event has started two days and will continue until Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Georgiev emphasises that last year the festival was visited by over 500,000 citizens and guests of Sofia. He expects that the Bulgarian people will manage to break the record this year.
The Chairman of the Municipal Council remarked that he is incredibly proud of this event. He said, “I am Honored to be a patron of the most prosperous city festival.”
