Sofia, Bulgaria: Yordanka Fandakova, mayor of Sofia, shares the details of this week’s development. She informed that a second city hospital is now provided with a new scanner and construction of a new building to the 51st nursery in Krasna Polyana has been completed.
She emphasized that with the new scanner, the Sofia Municipality expanded the capabilities of the neurology and invasive cardiology departments. Additionally, new equipment for invasive cardiology is also to be purchased.
Three municipal DCCs will be equipped with modern X-ray machines. The Mayor of Sofia reported that Knyaginya Clementina Medical Center (Fifth City) will have a latest-generation video-bronchoscopic system for the detection of malignant lung diseases at an early stage.
She further remarked that in recent years, the Sofia Municipality has invested 42 million leva in medical equipment and modernizing municipal hospitals.
Mayor Yordanka Fandakova noted that Municipal healthcare must be maintained at a reasonable level – by developing its vital sectors in hospital care, providing treatment to vulnerable groups and developing par-hospital care.
Speaking about the new building in Krasna Polyana, she announced that the construction of a new building to the 51st nursery in Krasna Polyana has been completed.
Two more nursery groups will be opened as a branch of the 54th nurseries in the region. They are built as compensation through public-private partnerships.
Mayor of the Krasna Polyana region Ivan Chakarov is among the first to provide places for children between 3 and 6 years old, and with active work, the shortage of nurseries is also on the way to solve.
Mayor Fandakova mentioned that in 2023, the Sofia Municipality finished two more new buildings at the 31st nursery in “Krasno Selo” and 35th in “Triaditsa”. Now, three more greenhouses will be established in the Lyulin, Triaditsa and Lozenets regions.
The mayor of Sofia proudly announced that in the last four years, the Sofia Municipality has been able to complete 29 new kindergarten buildings, and 22 more have begun construction.
