In Sofia in a record short time, with the invaluable help of the Associate Professor. Dr Steliyan Dimitrov, Head of the Department of Cartography and Geographic Information Systems at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski and Rumen Petrov of the Bulgarian Solar Association were professionally photographed and evaluated 880 buildings, a significant part of which have serious potential for solar panel energy generation, mainly in the Lyulin, Vrabnitsa and Nadezhda areas.

Beliga noted that we had created a wonderfully working online platform – a map of Sofia, on which she mentioned digitized roof structures of the buildings in the three regions.

For some of them, the Bulgarian Solar Association has already created concept projects for the installation of solar stations. She also highlighted that through the one-click platform, everyone can check the estimated annual amount of energy a given building can generate and the potential profit it can bring residents.

Beliga emphasizes that under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, the measure for applying for photovoltaics is now open, and the citizens of the three metropolitan areas will be the first to apply for this measure.

An information campaign on the project is coming up in the coming weeks, where Beliga will meet with residents in the neighbourhoods to tell more about the potential of Sun Cities.

Beliga also informed that Metropolitan Municipality is already working on the construction of two large-scale solar systems – the Zoo and the Waste Treatment Plant. She urged that If anyone is convinced of the significant advantages of this project, take a look at the platform.
