The regional governor of a region with an administrative centre in Gabrovo reported that the renewed learning environment at Planetarium Gabrovo was presented on Cosmonautics Day.
The Center for Personal Development Support Astronomical Observatory and Planetarium has renewed its base for 195 thousand leva. The Funding has been provided for two projects under two of the Ministry of Education and Science’s National Programs.
For 20 thousand leva will be utilized for upgrading the office in the direction of Science, 25 thousand. lv. were used to renovate a cabinet in the direction of Technology with 150 thousand. Lv. The Star Hall is equipped with a new digital planetarium.
The improvements were officially introduced by Daniela Ivanova – Director of the Planetarium. District Governor Kristina Sidorova, Deputy District Governor Andrei Nikolov, Mayor of Gabrovo Tanya Hristova, and Deputy Mayor of Gabrova Nevena Mineva respected the event.
Special guests at the event were Erika Teirumnieka – Vice President of the Rezekne District in Latvia, and Edmund Teirumnieks, People’s Representative in the Latvian Seim (one-chamber parliament).
Christina Sidorova, Regional Governor of Gabrovo District, gave Daniela Ivanova a gift, wishing the tree to rise to the stars and remind future generations of today.
All guests had the opportunity to observe a projection in the Star Hall with the new “From Earth to the Universe” device. And the talented children from DG “Ran Basil” presented a performance dedicated to the stars and planets.
The Astronomical Observatory and Planetarium in Gabrovo were opened in 1984. One of its kind in central Bulgaria, the astronomical observatory and planetarium are visited by many students and tourist groups.
In the specific setting of the stair hall, educational, popular, children’s lectures and programs are delivered by two senior teachers with higher education and a major in Physics.
