Bulgaria to welcome 6 million tourists during ongoing season

Sofia, Bulgaria: As the country paces up to cover the damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy and various sectors of Bulgaria, positive news arrives as a ray of hope. The Tourism Minister, Hristo Prodanov, in his recent statement, shared that likely between 5.5 to 6 million tourists are expected by the European country during the season.

Prodanov made the announcement during a media conference on June 11, 2022.

He stated, “We are expecting no outflow of domestic tourists because many Bulgarians like the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. We want to send a clear message that Bulgaria offers excellent conditions for recreation and, at the same time, a safe destination – our Black Sea is a safe and peaceful area, and we have a long tradition of quality & hospitality in tourism”.

These travellers are most likely to be arriving from – Poland, Hungary, Romania, Germany, the UK, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Israel, along with other nations.

As per the statement of the Tourism Minister, the Balkan state keeps the promotion of all types of tourism as its top priority.

“Along with the traditional sea & the winter tourism, it is extremely significant for us to utilise the potential of cultural tourism, spa tourism, wine and culinary tourism, health tourism”, he then underscored.

Nearly 12 million visitors arrived in the European country before the beginning of the COVID pandemic a year. Meanwhile, last summer season, around 2.5 million tourists arrived in Bulgaria, according to the Unified Tourist Information System. The number this year is expecting a significant increase.

The projected increased number might also cross the margin of 6 million tourists. The tourism sector of Bulgaria will eventually get a significant and required boost from this.
