Sofia, Bulgaria: The Balkan state of Bulgaria and the Republic of Estonia celebrates 100 years of diplomatic relations today, May 20, 2022. On occasion, dignitaries of both countries expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral ties and long-withstanding friendship.
The official Twitter handle of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry cites, “100 years Bulgaria and Estonia together! Looking forward to the forthcoming hundred years of strong friendship and solidarity”.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Estonia tweets, “Exactly 100 years ago diplomatic relations between Estonia & Bulgaria were established. Congratulations, and we are sure the next 100 years will be even better”.
The European country of Bulgaria recognised Estonia as a country on May 20, 1922, while re-recognising the country on August 26, 1991. Although, the bilateral relations between the two countries were re-established on September 10, 1991.
Bulgaria-Estonia are a member of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) as well as the European Union.
Bulgaria is represented in Estonia through an honorary consulate in Tallinn. Estonia has an embassy and an honorary consulate in the capital city of Bulgaria – Sofia.
