This call comes after the Russian Ambassador, in her Facebook post, cited some comments in context to the expulsion of two Russian embassy diplomats by Bulgarian Prime Minister Petkov after the evidence proved them of being spies, who were engaged in “intelligence activities”.

The Russian Ambassador, after having a conversation with PM Petkov, apologised to him, as per the statement provided by the government.

“Today, I have received ambassador Mitrofanova’s apology and was assured that the embassy will refrain from interfering in Bulgaria’s internal affairs,” the tweet of the Prime Minister further notes.

The government authorities further noted that Prime Minister Petkov ‘welcomed the intention of the Russian ambassador to set a constructive tone from now on’.

Prime Minister earlier said in his official message on March 3, “Our gratitude to the Russian people for the Liberation cannot be devalued by comparisons with today’s fratricidal war in Ukraine”.

In addition to this, a piece of fake news was being spread all over the internet that healthcare accommodations in the European country are removing the Bulgarian patients in order to provide accommodation to fleeing Ukrainians. The Ministry of Health clearing the air on the news cited, “The health ministry has not issued an order, either in writing or orally, to remove patients from rehabilitation centres or other health facilities to accommodate Ukrainian citizens“.

The statement of the health ministry then added, “We ask citizens who receive such information to promptly notify the Ministry by e-mail or telephone“.
