Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: On Thursday afternoon, May 25, 2023, Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, welcomed Ahmed Agil Khateeb, the Saudi Arabian Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

During the meeting, the prime minister also sent warm wishes to the Saudi tourism minister’s accompanying delegation.

According to reports, Deputy Prime Minister Denzil Douglas, Konris Maynar, Minister of Foreign Affairs Samal Duggins, Minister of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, and Minister of Sustainable Development Joyelle Clarke were among the ministers from Prime Minister Terrance Drew’s delegation who attended the meeting.

Along with Dorietta Fraites, Director of the St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA), Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis, Permanent Secretary Naeemah Hazelle, Senior Assistant Secretary Samuel Berridge in the Prime Minister’s Office, and Dorietta Fraites.

Deputy Minister of Tourism for International Affairs; Faisal Alkahtani, Chief of Staff; Sultan Almusallam; Yazeed Almutairi, Director of Protocol; Deputy CEO of Saudi Fund for Development; Mohammed Alshenqiti, Portfolio Manage/EXPO 2030 tea; Abdulelah Allafi, Director of Logistics; and Meshari Almuhanna, Photographer; on the other side were the Saudi Arabian Minister of Tourism Affairs.

According to sources, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism Al-Khateeb has held the role for the past 25 years and has amassed a wealth of knowledge in financial services and investments throughout that time. Numerous government-affiliated organisations and businesses have been founded, developed, restructured, and controlled by him.

Al Khateeb was credited with leading the institutional transformation and achieving long-term ambitions with the greatest effectiveness and impact.

Terrance Drew, the island’s prime minister, has spoken about his plans and strategy for turning the country into a Sustainable Island State. He listed a number of areas that needed improvement and focus, including the health sector, creating resilience, and the energy industry.

A formal visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates was also extended by Tourism Minister Agil Al-Khateeb to Prime Minister Terrance Drew and his delegation, which included key Cabinet ministers.
