On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, the government of Dominica, Kenesjay Green Limited and Dominica Geothermal Development Company virtually signed a framework agreement.

The meeting was organized at H2 Caribbean in Miami, joined virtually by Dominican Minister of Finance Irving McIntyre, Attorney General Levi A. Peter, Michael Savarin-GC of National Focal Point for Dominica and Fred John-CEO of Dominica Geothermal Development Company.

The Dominican administration emphasizes that they are entirely focused on economic diversification and overall development by utilizing the island nation’s resources efficiently and legitimately. Finance Minister Irving McIntyre underlined that signing this framework agreement is a memorable occasion for the Dominican administration and its residents.

Minister McIntyre emphasized that this agreement is one of the leading pillars of Dominican green industrial development and its transition to a low-carbon economy.

He stated that the Dominican administration is confident that this transformation will boost national and economic development while contributing to the nation’s primary objective of making Dominica the maiden climate-resilient country in the world.

In addition, McIntyre mentioned that Dominica is considered the largest country with geothermal resources in the Caribbean region, and the island nation is capable enough of developing a Green Hydrogen Industry to compete with significant global firms in this field.

He said, “With the experience gained from Dominica’s Geothermal Development Company since working at Roseau Valley Geothermal Field Resource, the new phase in Dominican Geothermal Development has emerged”.

The Dominican Finance Minister expressed his gratitude to Kenesjay and Trinidad and Tobago for joining forces with Dominica. He noted that this collaboration will allow the utilization of a stock of Green Energy Commodities.

He asserted that Dominica also expects some hurdles and challenges during the completion of this process, but the administration has complete trust in the cooperation of various partners gathered in the meeting and will definitely achieve success in this project.

Speaking about the cooperation, Philip Julien, Chairman of Kenesjay Green Limited, remarked that it was an honour to partner with the Government of Dominica and highlighted that the island nation has a unique determination and willingness toward developing their country.

He reminds that a year and a half ago when they approached Kenesjay Green Limited, they had one question, “What if Dominica approached with the aligned method just as Trinidad and Tobago at the same time With Newgen Hydrogen Project to develop green Hydrogen Projects”.

Julien remarked that the Dominican administration asked them various questions about Geothermal Development and also did a country assessment whose outcome was remarkable. As per recent discoveries, it demonstrates that Dominica holds an outstanding energy potential.

Philip Julien stated that there is a high possibility of surplus green energy in Dominica, making it a potential source for meeting green energy demands. This is a new development in the Caribbean region for the first time”.

Kenesjay Green Limited, whose chairman is Philip Julien, is a private sector company based in Trinidad and Tobago appointed to build a pipeline of green decarbonizing projects in the Caribbean.
