Thea Lafond went up to the Prime Minister’s office along with his husband Aaron Gadson and during their time with Prime Minister Skerrit they discussed important measures to be taken to elevate the sports industry.

During this meet, PM Skerrit regarded the visit as an absolute honour for him as he got the opportunity to personally congratulate the champion.

This courtesy call came into action since Thea Lafond came back home for the first time after her Olympic triumph and the celebration party, which was held in her honour.

In addition to the ongoing celebration, the 30-year-old athlete will also receive a reception party on Wednesday at the State House Conference Centre as stated by the PM.

“As part of ongoing activities to celebrate Thea’s achievements, the Government of Dominica will host a reception in her honour at the State House Conference Center on Wednesday,” he said.

The reception party will be an opportunity for Thea to personally connect and share her experience from the sports event held earlier in August.

Notably, Thea Lafond arrived in Dominica on Sunday and she received a Grand welcome. Upon her arrival, she was welcomed by Melissa Skerrit, Minister of Housing, Denise Charles, Minister of Tourism and several other government officials.

Following this, the athlete was celebrated with a motorcade and a celebration party. The Prime Minister also made big announcements during the celebration party including the allocation of 7459 sqft of land in Warner Park, a $400000 award money and the National Award of Dominica.

Apart from this, the Olympic champion will also receive a diplomatic passport for her and her husband. PM Skerrit also announced the construction of a new sports complex named Thea Lafond Gadson Track and Field Complex in her honour.

However, as Thea has arrived back in her home nation, she will now also be attending several events at different primary and secondary schools including Mahaut Primary School, Castle Bruce Secondary School and the Dominica State College later this week.
