Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, attended the 2023 Hurricane Season Commencement Church Service at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Molineux.
He warned the citizens of the island country about the Atlantic Hurricane season through his official Facebook account and invited them to visit the church and pray for God’s favour and mercy.
Minister Drew stated that during these difficult times, it is essential to be together and pray for the safeness and protection of our loved ones. That’s why a Hurrican season commencement church service was organised at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Molineux extension in St Kitts and Nevis on June 1 2023.
The forecaster for St Kitts and Nevis has predicted that the Caribbean region, home of thirteen sovereign island nations, will experience 17 storms from June to November, with 7 of them likely to become hurricanes. Additionally, 4 out of the 17 storms are predicted to be the biggest of the year.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew attended the prayer service along with his colleagues. Representatives from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), other senior government officials and members of the clergy were seen sitting next to the Prime Minister of Twin Island Federation.
Numerous carols and thanksgiving prayers were held at Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Molineux for a special service of intercession for God’s mercies and protection during the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
The service was held yesterday, and all the residents of the twin island federation were invited to attend the holy event to pray for the safety and security of everyone when the hurricanes strike the island.
Minister Drew stated that it is essential to pray during problematic situations so God’s mercy and protection stay on everyone. Ministry of Ecclesiastical and Faith-based Affairs organised the Church service in collaboration with the St Kitts Christian Council and Evangelical Association.
The Priest present in the Church begins the prayer by reading the bible verse Psalms 46:1 to 11, which reads, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”.
