Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre’s decision of extending an annual materials allowance for local teachers to improve the classroom experience for the students is going successfully.

Notably, PM Pierre has given approval for additional customary allowance of $800 from the government. As per the decision, every permanent teacher received an extra $600 in August.

It is to be noted that this gesture was extended to the temporary teachers in September as well.

It is to be added in the remarks of the Prime Minister that Saint Lucia’s permanent and temporary teachers collected a total of $1400 respectively within the first month of the 2023/24 academic term.

This initiative acknowledges the dedication and hard work of the teachers but recognizes their role in shaping the future of children and nation.
