Sofia, Bulgaria: Minister of Culture Krastu Krastev, yesterday informed through his official Facebook account that he organized meetings with the Ambassador of Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Bulgaria to strengthen the bilateral relations with Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially in the field of culture.

First, Minister Krastev met with Japan’s Ambassador N. Pr. Hiroshi Narahira. During the discussions, they mentioned the excellent bilateral relationships between both countries.

Minister Krastev noted that Japan has an exceptional cultural heritage, noting the great help the country provides to Bulgaria in preserving Bulgarian intangible cultural heritage. According to him, Bulgaria would be pleased to benefit from the expert level of experience Japan has in preserving cultural monuments.

N. Pr. Narahira, on her part, shared that Bulgaria has an incredible cultural heritage and beautiful traditions, from which Japan wants to learn because it sees something in common between their peoples, especially the intense emotionality.

Minister Krastev and N. Pr. Narahira united around the opinion that Bulgaria and Japan can upgrade over already successful bilateral projects in the field of performing arts. Ambassador Narahira also expressed his excellent impressions of Bulgarian musical and folklore ensembles.

Topics of conversation included three anniversaries related to Bulagria-japan bilateral relationship in 2024. The country will celebrate together with Japan. Minister Krastev and N. Pr. Narahira unanimously agreed it would be another fantastic occasion to consolidate and intensify relations between Bulgaria and Japan.

Meeting with Saudi Arabia also went fruitful, said Minister Krastev. The two emphasized good diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed readiness to expand bilateral cultural cooperation.

Minister Krastev stressed that Bulgaria attaches great importance to its relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the context of its desire to develop the partnership in all areas of mutual interest, especially in the fields of culture and contemporary arts.

Cultural Minister Krastev expressed his readiness to encourage musical, theatre and film arts exchange and cultural heritage conservation. He pointed out that Bulgaria will be pleased with the basis of the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (in force since 2009). ) to drive ideas of mutual interest in art and culture.
