Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis: Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, met with several essential world leaders gathered there from different regions of the world on May 7, 2023, during his visit to London for the Coronation Ceremony of King Charles III held at Buckingham Palace in London, United Kingdom (UK).

As a member of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis administration, he talked about their interests and future plans.

On May 5, 2023, during his second day in London, along with Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd, GCMG, JP, PM Drew, attended a breakfast organized by the UK Foreign Office to show support for Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

He was also joined by Under-Secretary of State for Americas and Caribbean, David Rutley MP, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Graham Stuart MP, Minister of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Minister Drew engaged with other world leaders at Buckingham Palace and informed them about the government’s intention to develop Saint Kitts and Nevis into a sustainable island country.

He outlined the importance of collaboration and assistance in advancing the country’s growth beyond the constraining measure of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. He also mentioned future geothermal initiatives and plans to enhance the fishing industry throughout the twin-island Federation.

Following the coronation ceremony that took place on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey, attendees were invited to a reception hosted by the UK Foreign Secretary at the nearby Church House.

During the reception, PM Terrance Drew, Foreign Minister Denzil L. Douglas, Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd met with James Cleverly- UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs, other leaders, and several government officials from different nations.

Minister Drew informed other countries that his government wanted to set up a task force. This task force will primarily focus on finding effective strategies to immediately solve problems related to water supply, renewable energy, sustainable management of marine resources, and partnerships through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The government aims to achieve measurable goals by taking a holistic approach across all departments. During a brief meeting with a senior United Nations (UN) official, Prime Minister Drew took the opportunity to discuss his plans for universal healthcare and requested assistance from the UN in making healthcare more accessible throughout the Caribbean.
