Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, provided an update related to the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Museum project, which was highly anticipated and is currently under construction in the country.
On the occasion of World Labour Day on May 1, 2023, yesterday, Minister Drew led a delegation to the construction site for the ‘Labour Day Parade’. He also participated alongside the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis from the Basseterre Constituency.
As per social media post shared by PM Drew through his official Facebook account, the event was broadcasted live on various social media channels run by St Kitts and Nevis administration and the Labour Party (SKNLP).
Additionally, Minister Drew shared the highlights of the Labour Party parade and displayed his gratitude for being a part of this memorable occasion.
Before the beginning of the parade, Prime Minister Terrance Drew gave his opening speech and acknowledged his colleagues, including the Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Geoffrey Hanley, Comrade Diana Williams, Minister of Public Infrastructures, Utilities, Transport, and Information, Konris Maynard, and Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Samal Duggins.
During the parade, Minister Drew was joined by several members, including Icelene Philip, Joe O’Clark, and union members, such as Frank Farol. Additionally, PM Drew spoke about the importance of the ongoing construction project of the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Museum.
The museum will demonstrate the life and accomplishments of the former Prime Minister and national hero of St Kitts and Nevis, Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw.
It is anticipated that the respected national hero Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw’s residence will transform into a historical museum, displaying a collection of his belongings during his tenure as Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew also highlighted the essential role that the museum will play in St Kitts and Nevis, community. He emphasized that the first national hero should symbolize self-sacrifice and inspire visitors to contribute to the nation’s development with pride and prosperity. He expressed his confidence in the government’s ability to achieve its vision for the project.
He said, “This project isn’t just about the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party or the St Kitts and Nevis Trades and Labour Union. It’s about all of us as citizens of St Kitts and Nevis”.
While giving the speech during the Labour Day Parade, Minister Drew announced that the museum’s construction is expected to be completed by September 16, 2023, as the government has boosted its building.
The Prime Minister of the twin island Federation also presented an illustrated map of the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Museum that includes the building’s plan and blueprint. He announced that the SKNLP government plans to open the museum this year.
After addressing the nation, Minister Drew invited the residents of St Kitts and Nevis to join him for Labour Day March in the Basseterre constituency and led the march.
Later, Minister Drew led the Labour March across the streets of Basseterre constituency accompanied by his fellow ministers and members of the SKNLP Government.
He admires the working people of St Kitts and Nevis for their dedication and hard work. He highlights that their restless efforts have contributed a significant part to the growth and development of the country.
On International Labour Day 2023, the country’s citizens marched alongside their Prime Minister in a historic parade. The SKNLP ministers also spoke about the government’s efforts to improve the nation and show appreciation to the hardworking population.
PM Drew emphasized that the labour movement in the country holds great importance in the country as its primary objective is to improve the people’s livelihood. The island’s citizens actively participated in the parade and enjoyed celebrating World Labor Day in 2023.
