Sofia, Bulgaria: According to the new data, the life expectancy rate at birth in Bulgaria for the time period of 2019 to 2021 is calculated for 73.6 years. The statistics have been shared by National Statistical Institute (NSI) today, May 20, 2022.
This number has decreased as compared to that of 2018-2020.
The NSI, in its statement, underscores that due to the different mortality rates in the male and female populations and in Urban and Rural populations, there is a difference in the life expectancy rate.
The life expectancy for the male population at birth is 70.1 years, and for females, it is 77.4 years, according to the official figures by NSI.
On the other hand, the life expectancy among the urban population of Bulgaria is 74.3 years, and for that of the rural population is 71.9 years.
What is the life expectancy rate?
The term “life expectancy” directs to the number of years a person is expected to live. By definition, life expectancy is based on an estimate of the average age at which members of a particular population group will be when they die.
Below are the factors which affect life expectancy?
Influential factors in life expectancy include – gender, genetics, access to health care, hygiene, diet and nutrition, exercise, lifestyle, and crime rates. Evidence-based studies indicate that longevity is based on two major factors, genetics and lifestyle choices.
