Ukrainians have as many tanks on battlefield as Russians: Former US Ambassador to NATO

One of the former United States ambassadors to NATO – Doug Lute, speaking today (Sunday), said that the recently sent military aid package to Ukraine from America would “make a real difference”.

The statement comes after President Joe Biden’s administration announced to send assistance worth $800 million to the war-hit country.

He stated, “That can make a real difference because this begins to close the quantitative gap between the Ukrainians and the Russians. In fact, some estimates are now that the Ukrainians have as many tanks on the battlefield as the Russians”.

“If not more, right? Now, the reality here is that many of the tanks that Ukrainians now have are the ones deserted or abandoned by the Russians. So this imbalance in quantitative factors like tanks and artillery and so forth is beginning to get righted in favour of the Ukrainians”.

Following the above statement, Lute added that Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying his part hard to access “what might be possible”.

“He’s looking for opportunities, and he’ll grab the first good one available. Right now, there don’t seem to be many good opportunities for Vladimir Putin”, the former US NATO ambassador further adds.

The Russian military invasion of Ukraine completes 60 days. Following the war, over 5 million Ukraine refugees fled the war land and took shelter in other countries for the sake of their lives.

Recently, United Nations shared the casualty data and noted that since February 24, 2022, nearly 6000 Ukraine civilians have died. The international organisation added that the actual numbers might be more.
