Sofia, Bulgaria: The European nation recorded a total of 1,720 additional COVID-19 cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, as of March 18, 2022. The data was shared in the Unified Information Portal.
The positivity rate of the fresh COVID-19 cases stands at around 10.84% and was recorded out of the additional 15,874 COVID-19 tests conducted by the health facilities and centres.
This brings the total count of the active novel coronavirus in Bulgaria to 192 721; meanwhile, the overall tally of the confirmed COVID-19 infections to 1,121,194, the data of the official portal further adds. The total count of active cases witnessed a decrease of 1057 in the last 24 hours.
Along with these additional cases, a total of twenty-six (26) COVID-19 patients lost their lives to the contagious viral disease, taking the overall death rate of the country to 36 248.
A total of 2751 patients recovered from the contagious virus in the last 24 hours, the data of the portal further adds. The overall recovery rate of the country rises to 892 225.
For the present time, there are a total of 2259 COVID-19 patients who are in the hospital facility of Bulgaria, including the 196 newly admitted. Out of this, currently, there are 276 patients in the intensive care unit; this number is less than two as compared to that of the data shared in the report of March 18, 2022.
Till March 17, there are 2,055,983 individuals who have received their required number of the COVID-19 jabs and are fully vaccinated against the deadly virus. This number of individuals represents around 29.7% of the total population.
On the other hand, there are a total of 708,919 individuals who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, accounting for around 10.2% of the total population of Bulgaria.
