Exclusive comedy performance to light up Burgas Bay on July 2 and 16
BURGAS – Theater enthusiasts are in for a rare treat this summer as the Adriana Budevska Drama Theater of Burgas unveils the exclusive premiere of its newest production, “The Best Man” (original title: Кума), a lively comedy by Vadim Miroshnichenko.
The special performances will be held on the enchanting island of St. Anastasia, offering audiences a unique open-air theater experience under the stars.
Staged by Pavel Gatlov and translated by one of the play’s stars, Milena Markova, “The Best Man” promises an evening filled with laughter, misunderstandings, and razor-sharp wit.
Known for her bold comedic style, Markova stars alongside Daniel Peev – Dundee in the lead roles. They are joined on stage by a strong ensemble cast featuring Pepa Nikolova, Nikola Parashkevov, and Navid Afzali.
The play explores the chaos and comedy that ensue when the monotony of marriage is met with a desperate attempt at escape. Set during a summer getaway, the story centers around a man on the run—not from danger, but from routine.
As he stumbles from one mishap to another, the line between loyalty and freedom becomes increasingly blurred, leading to hilariously unexpected consequences. Is the “best man” really who we think he is, or could it be someone entirely different?
Directed with a keen eye for timing and movement, Gatlov’s staging aims to balance the comedic momentum with heartfelt moments, bringing out both the absurdity and humanity of modern relationships.
The play’s visual identity is shaped by scenographer and costume designer Ilina Grozeva, whose work adds a fresh and vibrant aesthetic to the performance, blending seamlessly with the natural backdrop of the Black Sea.
The two premiere performances will be held on July 2 and July 16, with the island’s natural amphitheater providing a spectacular setting for the comedy.
Ticket holders will enjoy a complete theatrical evening starting with a boat departure from Sea Station Burgas at “Magazia 1” at 8:00 PM. The return journey is scheduled for 10:30 PM, giving the audience a full evening to soak in both cultural and coastal charm.
Tickets are priced at 47 BGN, inclusive of round-trip boat transport. They are available for purchase at the theater box office (tel. 056/842266 or 056/846040 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and online at Entase:
