Sofia Airport has announced the upcoming closure of the multi-storey parking facility at Terminal 2, effective from November 25, 2024, to facilitate major reconstruction work.

In a statement provided to NOVA, airport officials confirmed that the closure will impact all vehicles entering the covered parking area, while special arrangements will be made for vehicles already parked there.

The airport administration clarified that while the facility will be closed to new entries starting November 25, vehicles currently inside will still have a two-week window to be removed.

“In light of the upcoming renovation of the covered parking at Terminal 2, we urge vehicle owners who have left their cars for an indefinite period to take action to remove them within the next two weeks. After this deadline, all unclaimed vehicles will be towed to an impound lot,” read the official statement.

With the renovation work marking a significant upgrade to the parking infrastructure, officials emphasized that all visitors must comply with the announced timeline.

Failure to retrieve vehicles from the parking facility by the end of the two-week grace period will result in vehicles being towed at the owner’s expense.

The airport administration has also indicated that details regarding the location of the impound lot will be provided to those whose vehicles are relocated.

The closure of the multi-storey parking is part of a broader effort to modernize and improve the airport’s facilities. While the covered parking area undergoes renovation, Sofia Airport has assured passengers and visitors that alternative parking solutions are available.

“We remind everyone planning to use the parking that vehicle stays should not continue past November 25, 2024, due to the upcoming major repairs to the facility,” officials stated, urging travelers to utilize the new open-air parking lots, which have been made accessible to accommodate the expected increase in demand.

Sofia Airport’s management acknowledged the potential inconvenience to travelers and vehicle owners but stressed that the upgrades are necessary to ensure a safer and more efficient facility in the future.

Those who frequently use the airport’s parking services are encouraged to plan accordingly to avoid disruptions.
