Roseau, Dominica: The Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed participants to the annual Roseau summer camp. The session took place on Monday. The children enthusiastically engaged with the country’s prime minister, questioning him about his work. The conversation continued as everyone shared their personal experiences.

The annual summer camp, held in July, is designed to provide children aged 5 to 12 with fresh activities each day in Roseau Central. Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, organizes the camp each year.

On Monday, the camp was supposed to meet with the country’s Prime Minister and visit his office. The camp also includes visits to several major leaders to provide children with a pleasant activity as well as a life-changing experience. The camp also offers educational activities to assist children improve their social skills and confidence.

Dmitri and Isabella Skerrit, the children of Prime Minister Skerrit and MP Melissa Skerrit, also attended the camp and went to the prime minister’s office. In his post, the prime minister expressed the children’s joy for the project and their curiosity as they inquired about the mission and had a great time joking with him.

The Prime Minister questioned the children about their summer experiences, asking them to discuss their favorite activities and the skills they learned in both indoor and outdoor activities. They also learned about the Prime Minister’s duties and how he governs Dominica as a whole.

As the session came to a close, the prime minister presented treats to all of the attendees, and they all took photos together. Minister Mellisa also joined them for the photo session.

Minister Mellisa also shared a post from this session on her social media, stating that the youngsters will be offered more outdoor activities to explore to enhance their experience.

Discover Dominica Days include hiking at Jack’s Walk, seeing Freshwater Lake and Ti Kwen Glo Sho, drumming, jewelry making and fun circle times with positive affirmations, as well as daily reading, math power, movie time, and the ever-popular Fun Day Fridays, such as last week’s ooey-gooey slime day! This summer will be unforgettable!” she stated
