The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire started the World Travel Market (WTM) Trade Show in London. The Deputy Prime Minister also attended the ministers’ summit which is being hosted as a part of the WTM.

The event is being helmed in collaboration with several stakeholders, including the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The Minister of Tourism has shared several glimpses from the day one of the world Travel Market.

Speaking of the significance of the initiative, the Deputy Prime Minister said: The start of a new week brings new opportunities to us. The world Travel Market trade show started on Monday, November 6, 2023. The theme for the summit is ‘Transforming Tourism Through Youth and Education’.

The Minister of Tourism, Ernest Hilaire believes that it is very important for Saint Lucia to create and promote a sustainable tourism industry. He argued that through this mandate, the government can create meaningful opportunities for the youth and wider population.

Sharing some glimpses from the Minister’s Forum, which was also an important part of the WTM, he promised: “We will continue to expand the training opportunities to enhance the skill sets of our people. In this way, they will be prepared to compete on the global platform and rival the best.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire was extremely excited about being a part of the remarkable initiative, He shared that through the World Travel Market Saint Lucia will get the opportunity to strengthen partnerships with some of the the nation’s longstanding partners in the industry.

It will also present us with the opportunity to expand our presence in the international market and tap into other areas that will help to further grow our local tourism economy.
