Sofia, Bulgaria: For the first time, the Ministry of Youth and Sports introduces the Sports Development Program for Persons with Disabilities for 2024 funding to prepare and provide awards for the medalists of the XXIV Summer Games for the Deaflympics in 2022. and their coaches.
In this way, the state provides Bulgarian deaf athletes the opportunity to prepare thoroughly for the next Summer Games for the Deaf – Deflympics in 2025 in Tokyo, Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev pointed out.
BGN 1,920,000 are provided for in the MMS budget 2024 to ensure the two directions of the Program for the Development of Sports for Persons with Disabilities – the Sports Competition for Persons with Disabled and the Leisure Sports for Persons With Disabilities.
To support the development of Bulgarian Paralympic competitors in the 2024 Sports Development Programme for Persons with Disabilities.
It is committed to providing better conditions for its practical training and competition process based on won quotas for participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the results achieved in the period 2021-2023. and the priorities of the MMS.
Personal monthly funds for the preparation and recovery of the Paralympians will reach the maximum amount of 3800 BGN with the increase from next year. at 3000 BGN at the moment, and in this way, they will be equal to those of healthy athletes.
Paralympians who have won an Olympic quota will receive such funding. The salaries of coaches and their teams increase by 15%; with coaches, the maximum MMS funding can reach 3900 lv. Monthly at a ceiling from 3400 lv. so far.
