Sofia, Bulgaria: Mariya Gabriel, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of Bulgaria informed that yesterday, she opened the first meeting of the National Council under her lead for persons with Disabilities (NSCU).

During the meeting, the NSU supported the draft Order amending and supplementing Ordinance No. 7 of 2021 for the terms and order for compiling a list of medicinal products. It clarifies the procedures for determining the cost of payment for aids, facilities and medicines for disabled people.

The draft Report on the Council’s Activity for 2022 was also supported, and the draft General Annual Report on the implemented activities of organizations of and for persons with disabilities and the results achieved in the field of the rights of persons with disabilities for 2022.

The document is prepared based on information from 21 nationally represented organizations and provides a clear picture of day-to-day work and results achieved in supporting people with disabilities.

Minister Gabriel emphasized that the aim is to work together within the Council to generate new and effective approaches to better support people with disabilities.

She congratulated the team of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the NSHU Secretariat for the organization.

The Foreign Minister also thanked the member organizations of NSHU and the deputy-Chairs of the Council – Minister of Labor Ivanka Shalapatova, Minister of Health Hristo Hinkov and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Parents of Children with Epilepsy Veska Subeva – for the important discussion and constructive suggestions.
