Sofia, Bulgaria: The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dimitar Iliev, and his deputy professor, Daniela Dasheva, presented a wider scope of funding and higher rewards for coaches and officials such as doctors or chiropractors who foresee MMS financial aid programmes for 2024 of the federations administering non-Olympic sports.
Under the new separate program for Olympic sports, starting next year, federations with prize rankings from the last World (1-8th place) and European Championships (1-6th place), as well as from the European Games in 2023. (1-8th place).
All medalists of these championships will also be able to participate in the project of the relevant organization under the program, with the scope also extended to young athletes with potential up to the second age group before men and women.
For the sake of greater transparency, information related to the implementation of project activities must be published on the website of the relevant sports federation.
Sports organizations will also be able to apply for the financial assistance program for human resources and scientific-methodical provision projects.
It is planned to increase the salaries of all coaches and officials by 15% compared to 2023. , with the added possibility of signing employment contracts (not only civil ones), which also provide for insurance contributions.
For the first time, the federations’ projects provide an opportunity to include a physician, according to the specifics of the sport, to be approved by the Olympic Preparation Commission.
