Gabrovo, Bulgaria: PMG “Academic Ivan Gyuzelev”, High School of Science and Mathematics, led by their teacher Rumen Yanchev, finished third in Student games started yesterday, October 17. The championships continue with football for students 8-10 grades.

The games are organized and conducted according to rules approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The championships started with football for 5-7 grade students.

Teams compete under a changed regulation for holding football matches – 7 competitors (6 fields + goalkeeper) on a field measuring 45×55 meters in length and 25×35 meters in width.

Seven Gabrovo schools are participating as they expressed their desire to participate, and the championship was held for four consecutive days.

The schools divided into two groups held several contested matches, and the teams of Ran Bosilek Primary School and Neofit Rilski Primary School became champions in the group phase. Second place was won by the Primary School “Hristo Botev” and PMG “Academic Ivan Gyuzelev”.

After a lot of emotions, dynamics and sportsmanship, with a result of 9:2, the PMG “Academic Ivan Gyuzelev” team secured third place. Hristo Botev Elementary School finished fourth with teacher Veselina Zlateva.

The champion in the municipal stage was the team of the primary school “Neofit Rilski”, led by Denislav Ginev, and its runner-up was the team of the elementary school “Ran Bosilek” with teacher Momchil Vatkov.

The match was played in three halves; in the first, the result was 1:1; in the second – it remained unchanged, so the game was decided in the third last half by scoring two goals for the primary school “Neofit Rilski”. With a result of 3:1, Neofit Rilski Primary School continues in the next regional stage, which will be held in the spring of 2024.

In addition to the team ranking, three individual awards were also given – for the scorer of the championship, Rostislav Andreev; the best goalkeeper – Trifon Karapanchev; both students from the team champions, and for the most useful player was, Emilian Kolev from PMG.
