Plovdiv, Bulgaria: Botev Plovdiv, the Plovdiv-based football club, informed through its social media account that the club management carried out a transfer strike. The Canaries stepped up their offensive power with Evelyn Popov.
The experienced footballer signed a contract with the “yellow-black”, and yesterday he did his first training under the leadership of Stanislav Genchev. Ivelin Popov was born on October 26, 1987 in Sofia. One of the best Bulgarian footballers in the last decade has passed through a number of teams at home and abroad.
Outside the border, the offensive footballer has played for the teams of Gaziantepspor, Kuban, Spartak (Moscow), Rubin (Kazan), Rostov and Sochi. In Bulgaria, he wore the teams of Litex and Levski, the latter being part of the “blue” from Sofia. Evelyn Popov is a 3-time winner of the most prestigious individual award – Bulgaria’s No. 1 footballer for 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Evelyn Popov has 90 matches of the Bulgarian National Team, of which in 54 he has led the “lions” with the captain’s tape. For the “tricolorite”, he made 18 hits.
In his career, he has won the Bulgarian Championship title twice, twice the Bulgarian Cup and once the Bulgarian Super Cup. Outside of the border, he won the title in Russia and the Super Cup of Russia with Spartak (Moscow).
