As per Wikipedia, On January 25, 2017, Athanaze made his List A debut for the West Indies Under-19s at the Regional Super50 for the 2016–17 season. He was selected for the West Indies team for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in November 2017.

Minister Skerrit said that having a young Dominican player selected to represent the West Indies is an occasion of pride and pleasure. He is an inspiration for the young generation to focus on their goals and work hard to accomplish their dreams.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also highlighted Athanaze’s incredible accomplishments through his official Facebook page. He posted a video on his social media platform congratulating the youngster and wishing him and West Indies Men’s team good luck ahead of India’s tour of West Indies.

Two test matches, three ODI’s, and four T20s will be played as scheduled. The first test match will be played at Windsor Park Stadium in Dominica.

Talking about Athanaze, PM Skerrit added that he is a young and developing talent in the field of Dominican and West Indies cricket. His selection for the next series was expected and highly deserved due to his outstanding performances and runs scored in the home circuit.

The Prime Minister of Dominica believes that having Athanaze in Windies’ squad will be significantly beneficial and will provide a solid start for the team. The West Indies Cricket team and their fans are facing difficult situation as, for the first time in 48 years, the two-time World Cup winners didn’t qualify for the World Cup.

With Athanaze in the team, he will strengthen the Windies’ batting order laying the foundation for a new era of West Indies cricket. Minister Skerrit urged the Dominican residents to support the youngster on July 12 during the first test match between West Indies and India. The game will be played at Windsor Park cricket stadium.
