Haskovo, Bulgaria: The Haskovo Municipality informed on its social media account that children participants in the photo contest “I am Bulgarian! “ received awards yesterday on the occasion of Children’s Day.
Bulgaria celebrates Children’s Day on June 1 of every year. The holiday first emerged during the World Conference on Children’s Health, which took place in Geneva in 1925. Twenty-four years later, the day was formally proclaimed International Children’s Day 24 years later.
On Children’s Day, everyone who participated in the photo shoot for the best folk costume received certificates and gifts from the Mayor of Haskovo Municipality, Stanislav Dechev.
The winners of the first photo shoot contest for the best folk costume, “I am Bulgarian”, were broadcasted by voting on social networks.
Vladimir Minkov, who is only one year and nine months old, collected more than 16 thousand likes on Facebook, and Siyana Stoyanova, who is only two years old, has the most likes on Instagram. Photographer Slavyan Kostov presented the special award for the most artistic model to seven-year-old Deana Antonova.
In the first photo session contest, “I am Bulgarian! “, organized within the National Fair “Kitna Thrace Sings, and Dances”, 27 children from Haskovo, Dimitrovgrad, Simeonovgrad, Uzundzhovo and others participated.
Mayor of Haskovo Stanislav Dechev thanks parents for being active and educating children in traditional Bulgarian values and making the holiday even sunnier.
Special holiday greetings for all Haskovo children were also sent by the kids from the Sun, Zvanche and Zornitsa Kindergartens, who made unique colour panels that served for today’s first youth photo sessions in front of the Municipality of Haskovo.
