The exhibition “Traditional Bulgarian Art Today” is scheduled to open on May 11 in Geneva. The occasion is the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius. The event is part of Europe Day celebrations.

The exhibition is taking place under the auspices and with the assistance of the Permanent Embassy of Bulgaria to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva. The organizer is the Association for Bulgarian Education, Culture and Traditions “Dr Stamen Grigorov”.

Within nine days, the audience will have the opportunity to get acquainted with traditional Bulgarian art in iconography and wood carving in contemporary interpretation.

The exhibition shows a selection of over 40 works – icons, wood carvings and small furniture – created by students of the Trevna School of Applied Arts, city—of Tryavna, to the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria. School principal Orphei Mindov will attend the opening.

The Association for Bulgarian Education, Culture and Traditions “Dr Stamen Grigorov” has been active since June 2019. , is named after the Bulgarian microbiologist whose research work in Geneva is one of the bridges connecting Bulgaria and Switzerland. “Our goals are to maintain, preserve and popularize, besides the Bulgarian language, the cultural achievements and ancient traditions of our country,” the organization added.
